Calling all ARTIST! This year we are hosting AUDITIONS for the 21st Annual Malcolm X Festival! Auditions will take place March 5 & 12, 2010 from 12-4 pm Georgia State University @ the University Center, RM 225, 2nd floor next to the Cinefest
There are only a few slots available, so please come ready to bring your best performance. Performers are asked to audition one song per act. Artist may audition with C.D., but are not required. Bands, please consider the nature of this audition will not accomodate the full set up of band instruments / generators / or amplifiers. (Due to this, bands are allowed to bring video or audio footage to the audition).
The Malcolm X Festival is open to all poets, dancers, rappers, singers, etc. and is a FAMILY event, so please, whatever your talent, KEEP IT CLEAN, no curse or obscene language.
Cost of auditions is a one time fee of $20 (flat rate for all artist) and all artist are asked to please come early for sign up!
What is the 21st Annual Malcolm X Festival? It is the 21st year that the Atlanta Chapter of Community Aid and Development Corporation and the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement has celebrated the birthday of Malcolm X Omowale Malik Shabazz, who was born May 19, 1925.
What should we expect? All activities, including speeches, solidarity statements, spiritual affirmations, and musical performances will relate to Malcolm's message of Human Rights and Self-Determination.
What is the purpose of the event? To provide metro-Atlanta citizens an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the legacy of an international African icon by means of a cultural celebration which promotes unity while honoring diversity.
What type of vendors should be expected? Cultural artifacts, paintings, sculpture, carvings, jewelry, literature, clothing, crafts, food and much, much more.
What time does it begin and end? The festivities begin at 12 noon and end at 8 pm.
Does it cost anything? No, there is no admission fee.
Where can I park? Parking is available on the streets only. There is no parking allowed on the park grounds.
